Joint fishery law enforcement & fry release campaign held for Lancang-Mekong River

MOA, the People's Government of Yunnan Province, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Laos and Luang Namtha Province of Laos jointly conducted the fishery law enforcement and fry release campaign for Lancang-Mekong River stock enhancement in Guanlei port, Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture on November 10, 2015.
For the first time, the campaign was jointly carried out by competent authorities of the central governments of China and Laos. Totally 120,000 fingerlings and fries of native species were released. Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen, Vice Governor Gao Feng of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Laos participated in the event.
Vice Minister Yu noted that competent authorities of China should pay close attention to the conservation of aquatic resources and protection of ecological environment of fishing waters. We should further enhance cooperation with neighboring countries, strengthen law enforcement, implement rehabilitation programs for water ecosystem recovery, and intensify biodiversity conservation for major waters in south-western regions.
